The horses were in Battleground, not 2097.

No you are mistaken.....Streetfighter 4 is in 2D http://www.gametrailers.com/player/31288.html

It is the background parralex scrolling that im talking about that gives it that 3D look. Streetfighter EX 2 and Virtua fighter 4 are 3D....

trix, the backgrounds are full 3d, the fighters are just bound to 2d movement.

Yes the backgrounds are 3d but that doesnt mean the game is.....I class something along the lines of Tekken and Virtua fighter as 3D beat em ups as you are able to move in and out so to speak....

Parrallax Scrolling is when 2 or more 2D backgrounds are moved at different rates of speed to simulate a 3D point of view. The fighters and backgrounds in SF4 are all 3D (rendered with polygons). However, the fighters can only move in a 2D fashion to retain the tried and true SF combat system.

It's called artistic exaggeration... anyone expecting realism from Street Fighter is a bit in the dark on the series roots and intentions.

I think the game looks amazing... looks like a 2D game in 3D, which is exactly what they were aiming for.

3D is not always good, 3D destroyed Mortal Kombat games, while MK to MK Trilogy were amazing games, once MK4 was released series took a nose dive.

While I agree, those games had full freedom of movement. This SF game is featuring the same 2D gameplay with more modern 3D graphics. It looks like certain actions will cause the camera to rotate, but the actual gameplay still remains 2D.

Yea, I agree that some older games just dont need to move to the 3d movement realm (besides its already been done with SF2 and failed). However 3d brings the realism that much closer. Its one thing to see an attack drawn, its another to see it pulled off by a humanoid figure who has all the same physics and limitations as a real human. I actually invisioned a 3d/2d bound sf2 along time ago as the evolution jump for street fighter, as all other fighters moved to 3d. Its just a shame they threw the franchise on the back burner for so long.
