Default Nvidia and Via to announce partnership!

Thursday for a new Platform

Nvidia and VIA are going to announce on Thursday that from now on they will be in bed together, with a mighty goal to survive against Intel.

This marriage of convenience will be announced on Thursday and Via will tell the world that Nvidia prepares a small board based on an Nforce-like chipset for its Nano CPU.

This new platform should directly go after Atom, and it will be X86 compatible, which means it will be able to compete against Atom, side by side.

Nvidia's new platform will play HD content far better than Intel, but just like Intel it is doomed to suck in gaming; but to be fair to Nvidia, it will get a bit faster than rather rusty old 945GC.

Let's just hope that Via's nano CPU is as good as people expect it to be. Oh, we almost forgot to say that Via should be written ALL CAPS and Nvidia should actually be nVIDIA.

the first thing that came to my mind "LOLOL WUT!!! ORLY!?!?!?"

But in reality, this is pretty crazy and a good thing in many ways (bad in some ways too).

VIA can't be THAT bad at making stuff, I mean, basically nVidia is using them for the x86 license - so it seems anyway.

From what I understand, they (nVIDIA) are making a new chipset with VIA that will also make use of the Tegra chip. Together they will make a platform to compete with Intels Atom.

Via makes some awesome mini-ITX and nano-ITX boards, but they are rendered almost worthless because of the horribly slow and outdated video chips that can't even display a flash heavy website properly.

This is what Via needs to make miniature systems not suck, and since they are the only real player in that market, nvidia will benefit greatly from being a part of it.
