Run the DX9 and DX10 benchmarks. Here's what I noticed on one run each.

-In the 2nd scene, the lighting and shadows ar different in Dx10, more realistic looking.

-Overall framerate is lower in most cases, however, DX10 mode seems to be more efficient. An example of this is scene 3, when Berial uses an attack that fills the full scree with flames for a split second. During this burst, DX9 takes a huge framerate hit. In DX10, the hit is only a few frames, and it keeps chugging along.

-For some reason on my machine, DX10 mode has the old NFS:MW "stutter" issue. The framerate doesn't stutter, but it feels like the game speed itself is fluctuating.

If you have the hardware for DX10 mode, you'll get a better lighting model, and more consistent performance even when everything goes nuts. But if you've got the speed issue I mentioned, DX9 is the way to play.

Assassin's Creed had more than a performance difference in DX10.

I'd like to see some comparison shots. Just curious what it looks like in DX10.

I'll try to take screenshots, but I don't know how much that will help. It seems different in motion. But anyway, yea, I'll take some shots in a moment, and upload them.

EDIT: Played with DX10 some more and here's what I saw.

-The difference is lighting is subtle in motion, and might be placebo on my part. I can't see anything in screenshots.

-I was wrong about my framerate benchmarks, sine AA wasn't working properly in DX10 using NVCP's override. Using the game's AA options, the framerate in DX10 was HALF of DX9's framerate, but again, was more consistent with more **** on screen.

-With this said, I see no reason to use the DX10 version. The visual differences are subtle at best, and they don't show up well in screenshots. The framerate being halved really sucks. I have no idea what the heck is going on in DX10 to justify the framerate hit. Oh, and exiting DX10 mode cause my Objectdock on the desktop to skitz out. DX9 is fine.

I'm dual booting so I guess I'll try for myself when I find myself rebooting.

I noticed in the demo that DX9 mode has some kind of extra loading bar which I assume is the game caching shaders or something, but it doesn't do it in DX10.

maybe DX9.0c causes it? i remember SCCT did the same thing but only when 9.0c was enabled. (aka SM3.0)

i just played the demo so far and i didnt notice any difference other than a drop in performance in DX9 vs DX10... so DX9 is the way to go for this game

Got my computer below hooked up to my DLP (52in 1080p), and playing with a 360 Controller. This game is as pretty interesting and even though it seems almost like a button masher, I am finding enjoyment in playing this. Story is alright I guess, but I never played any of the previous games in the Series. Performance is perfect, DX10 with the rig in my sig benchmark shows minimum of 70fps throughout all Scenes.

The game does get a lot more challenging when enemies actually start doing things. Enemies later are weak against specific attacks, so just bashing the sword button will pretty much only get you killed as some enemies don't even flinch when getting hit.

The game is incredibly brutal on later difficulties (they unlock after beating the game).

The game has a lot of mashing, but that's only part of it, it is a brutally hard game to master because not only are there tons of moves you have to pull off, but you have to be pulling them off and slamming your digits into nothingness.

Anyways, I think a lot of people consider Devil May Cry 3 to be the best in the series, but DMC4 is the only one I've ever finished (although I got really near the end of the 1st one as well).
