it can be a button smasher, but i like when you get more weapons later in the game (and playing with Dante is freakin awesome).

i beat it on the easiest level on 360, but i want to play it some more, so ill pick up the PC version for cheap and play it some more there.

I really want to try this but I don't know if it will hold my interest like the first one did. I wasn't that into DMC2 and I never tried 3.

tbh, it didnt take me very long on easy. took about 10-12 hrs. id pick it up, it looks great and it has good gameplay.

also it's only $40 where the 360/PS3 versions are still $60.

3 is actually better that 4 imho. I was a DMC n00b not too long ago and by chance stubbled on the PC demo (tried the 360 demo months before but i dimissed it). Anyway, due to the PC demo, i bought the 360 version, and played it to mission 14 and i loved it. Then i got curious about 3 - I had tried it a couple of years ago and dimissed it straight away with its dodgey controls and lack of widescreen support but the advent of DMC4 made me want to play 3 so i searched for fixes and found one that fixed the gamepad issues for my 360. Now i have stopped playing DMC4 and concentrated on 3. Currently on mission 15, this game is extremely hard and i love it that way. There is certainly a lot of satisfaction to be had beating a boss that had punnished you 15 times.

While DMC4 is an excellent game with stunning visuals DMC3 is even better. Sure the GFX are not as good, but come one, you won't know what you are missing if you can't see past that.

To add, it you want to fix the gamepad issues then use Xpadder. It supports a wide variety of gamepads and you can map the DMC key presses to your gamepad.

Some quick benches for youse

This is disgusting Taken from the PC Test, all details maxed @ 1920x1200 with 4xAA. I picked a start and end point of the first segement of the test and used fraps to measure the framerate. I disabled crossfire so it was running on 1 GPU. This is the result i got.

Single GPU results

DX9
Avg: 116.353 - Min: 92 - Max: 146

DX10
Avg: 94.150 - Min: 71 - Max: 124

Note that it appears that crossfire does not work in DX9 mode because when i originally did the test with crossfire enabled, DX10 results were extremely higher which brings me to think that ATI haven't done a proper dx9 multi-gpu profile yet.

I am using the 8.6 drivers and not the hotfix since i get stuttering with crysis and other games. Those of you guys with the 8.6 hotfix or 8.7 can you check to see if you get the crossfire optimisations.

DirectX10

Multi GPU results

DX9
Avg: 117.150 - Min: 93 - Max: 148

DX10
Avg: 178.044 - Min: 137 - Max: 225

EDIT:

MultiGPU via 8.7 beta

DevilMayCry4_DX9
Avg: 227.699 - Min: 183 - Max: 287

DevilMayCry4_DX10
Avg: 214.446 - Min: 162 - Max: 281

Before you can change the resolution, you have to change the refresh rate in the game's options. Once you set that, the resolution will unlock. For some reason, it's glitchy like that.
