Honestly?
![]() I wouldn't bother. With the 9800 GX2 you lose 50% of your video memory plus you get all the headaches that come with SLI. And DDR3 won't make any difference in games. If I were you, I'd just wait a few weeks for the GTX 280 and get one of those. Nothing else is really going to help you much (except a bit of overclocking on that CPU).

DDR3 isn't going to help you any, that's for sure. If you really want that system, I'm sure it'll be good, it just seems like a waste of money to me. Same with the 9800GX2 since the GTX 280 will be better in every way and will be available in a few weeks.

I agree with CaptN, wait for the new card and call it done.

+1, I only picked up a couple of seconds on some encoding with my DDR3 setup. defiantly wasn't worth the $$.

I have tried every to overclock but I just couldn't. I can't even get it to go a far 3.2ghz. I don't know what am I doing wrong, when you say I should be able to to achieve 3.7 on any board. Prime always crashes on me. I just wanted to switch my board and the striker II extreme seen to be the best choice.

To be TBH you would be better off with 2x 8800GTX cards over a 9800GX2. The extra memory on the 8800GTX's as well as the ROP's will pay off. As the memory is mirrored and games eating more and more memory 768MB is better then 512MB. Also you can pick up a 2nd Hand 8800GTX cheap now. Might be better going down that road then pick up a G280 or their next revision later on as their prices will be sky high. Sounds like voltage, are you increasing the voltage, how are you overclocking, with the multiplier or FSB?
