This is the last thing i needed. When i power up computer it works for couple seconds and shuts off. I opened the case unplugged all the cards and memory. It doesn't shut off anymore. As soon as i install one memory module it shuts of on C1 mobo check. I tried memory from other system same, from third system same. I assume memory controller is dead. Any experience with this.? I thought my power button went bad. I unplugged it and started mobo by hiting power button on it. I guess memory controller is messed up. Last time it worked i left my computer in sleep mode through Vista. When i got back from town pressed space on keyboard to wake it up and nothing. I unplugged power and turned it on...and it was no go. As I said as soon as i install memory on one of the dimm slots it doesn't work. i tried all channels and it's doing the same.

Try a different PSU.
edit: did you reset the bios before trying different memory modules ?

Yes. I reseted bios. I also tried different PSU and it's no go. The only thing i didn't try is to change CPU. Well mobo is most likely a problem. I even unplugged all SATA devices.
C1 post code means auto detection of memory. As soon as it tries it shuts off. I though it was memory, but tried different memory from two working systems and it's no go. Too bad... I think i have no other option but order a new mb, probably i750 or i780 SLI.

Sounds like your NB is dead to me. I've known alot of 680i NB's go this way, inc. two of my own. Remove everything from the board exept the CPU and cooler. Remove the BIOS battery for a good 30 mins and try again. If your mobo doesn't give an error code like 'no memory module' then it's probably dead.
On the Striker, the error 'CPUINIT' meant the same problem. On the Abit mobo it was the 'A0' code. It's a very common problem with the 680i chipsets. Might be worth PMing jAkUp to see what you can do about it. |

I got my new eVga i780SLI board last night, installed everything...and it rocks again. I didn't have to reinstall Vista, neither Vista deactivated. I reinstalled all nvidia drivers and so....happy gaming again.
