Okay, here is what I have (kind of) so far;

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz / 1066MHz
OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit

Now, just to decide on a motherboard...

Thanks for letting me know. I'd hate to ruin it right off the bat! I've been cruising Newegg for motherboards and I'm starting to get a damn headache trying to decide.

I don't want to get you drunk, but, ah, that's a very fine Chardonnay you're not drinking.

CPU
Motherboard
Memory

Also, would I need a new PSU?

I do have a budget of around $500.00 for the first 3 items. I don't need anything major, but would like a good dual-core processor that can overclock to 3.0GHz or close to it and of course a good motherboard that will allow that to happen with some ease.

Thank you.
Of the 3, MB is the hardest to identify.

CPU: recommend E8400, and OC to 3.6 (under $200)
RAM: 2x1gig of DDR2 800. (~$70)
MB: depends on needs/desires (~100 - 300)

look at Sharky's system guides value gaming link: http://www.sharkyextreme.com/guides/...708_3747766__3

P35 based boards are a really good value currently, but not very future proof. (at that price, keep it year and upgrade the MB)

I just upgraded to the Asus Rampage Formula (x48). Its top of the line gamer level, and they charge accordingly ($300)

Your PSU needs, will be dictated by your video card more than anything else.
DO NOT GO CHEAP ON THE PSU. estimate your eventual needs. add another 30-40%.
I love the 'PC power and cooling' single rail solutions.

Newegg.com is my almost exclusive mail order vendor.
