So I got bored yesterday and successfully (and pretty easily) got Mac OS X on my Dell Vostro 1500. Once you mess around with it enough and if you have the resources (aka drivers), you can have a completely updated machine.

My Vostro laptop is about 95% working right now, here are the things that don't work:

Internal Mic
Shutdown
Reboot

And that's it! Everything else works perfectly fine. My netbook is still running OS X really nicely too.

Alright guys.

I am in the market for a laptop and I would be looking for one that I can "easily" put Leopard on. From what I've read, it's best to stick with parts Apple actually uses so, Intel CPU, etc. Anyone have any suggestions as to laptops they have used and installed Leopard on? Thanks!

that is true, but also general rule when it comes to laptops is best to avoid AMD

Id start by checking out the supported wireless hardware on OSX86. Once you find the supported chips make sure you get a laptop with a supported set. wireless is the most important thing imo.

Ya, I have been going over the wiki for a while now. Still trying to find the right laptop out of all of them...

i would say that is the least of worries, you can always replace the mini-pci or mini-pcie card.

Do you have to do a hard shut-off (i.e. hold power button down till it powers off)?

Can you post some pics?

Yea, but my thinking was, with most laptops, if you find a compatible wireless card, the other drivers should be there as well.

Sound is another driver that could be a real PITA if you don't look into it first bearclaw.

Do you have that issue? If so, which kernel are you running?

You may want to try the speedstep kernel if you're running Kalyway.
