I strongly encourage you to not go the AMD route. It'll just unnecessarily complicate things.

I understand, and if you intend on installing OSX on your current HTPC, then you ought to use AMD distros. I was responding to the comment in which you said that you are considering building a cheap Hackintosh, and my advice is that if you do decide to build a Hackintosh, then you really ought to stick with Intel.

Snow Leopard doesn't need to be modded for PC. You can install an un-modded retail copy of Snow Leopard with the right bootloader configuration. Hypothetically speaking , I've had it installed for a few weeks.

yes, but you add the bootloader from few toturials that i seen is that you need flash drive formatted in mac and install dvd copied to it.

I don't have access to a mac now, so i can't do that step.

unless there is some easy way to do it straight from DVD not having to format flash drive.

Myself and a few others have described a method that doesn't require a flash drive. You will need to install a modified version of Leopard (not Snow Leopard). I explained my method in blackosx's popular thread at insanelymac, and for a more in depth guide, you ought to follow blackosx's guide with my amendments. Essentially it works like this.

You need at least three partitions. I have them split between two hard drives. You need a partition for Leopard, a partition for Snow Leopard, and a partition for whatever bootloader you use. Install some version of Leopard (Kalyway, iKatos, iDeneb) to the Leopard partition. FYI, you can create all three partitions without having any version of Leopard installed by using the Leopard installer from, say, Kalyway's distributions.

Your bootloader partition should be at least 7GBs in size. Your bootloader partition will contain a disc image of your retail Snow Leopard disc in addition to your bootloader files (ex. Chameleon).

The bootloader partition will essentially take the place of the flash drive/usb drive of most of the Snow Leopard guides. For the rest of the procedure you just follow whatever guide you've opted to follow. I recommend blackosx's guide. So, you'll need access to a Windows installation in order to complete the DSDT creation step, and you'll use the Leopard installation to get the appropriate IO information to use for your DSDT file. Once you've got a dsdt.aml file you just put it on your bootloader partition in the relevant folder. Boot from the bootloader partition, from there you'll be able to boot the Snow Leopard installation disc image, and from there you'll install Snow Leopard just as you would if you were on a real Mac. No modified kexts; totally vanilla.

I think this method is preferable to the USB drive or flash drive method because installation is quicker and you've always got the bootloader partition available so that you can update Chameleon easily or modify the dsdt.aml if you want to add fixes as the community discovers them.
