Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with a new system that I just built, it's an athlonxp 2400+, Sapphire Radeon 9500 Pro, soyo dragon kt333 motherboard, 512mb kingston pc2700. Everything is working fine, except direct3d games don't work, they lock up the system as soon as I run them.
I first noticed the problem when I tried to run hitman 2 and it would immediately freeze up. Then I installed return to castle wolfenstein and the doom 3 alpha and they both run great, so I just figured it was just something to do with that specific game, hitman 2. Today however, I installed vietcong and it did the exact same thing as hitman 2 so I tried running the directx diagnostics test and it also froze. This lead me to believe that directx wasn't working properly so I tried reinstalling directx and that didn't work. I have catalyst 3.2 installed and all of the other drivers are up to date. Does anyone have any idea why direct3d isn't working but OpenGL is? Thanks |

What DirectX version do you have?
Is your videocard sharing IRQ with some other device? What OS are you using? |

Hm, did you try uninstalling your video drivers, then rebooting and reinstalling them? Maybe they got corrupted with the dx part and just need a good reinstall.
