So this is bad right?

If I let it continue, my computer completely shuts down at about the 115C temp. All my games have an odd stutter and my frame rates are virtually no better than my 8800GTX I pulled out.

Should I call BFG or is there some other solution? The card isn't even 48hours old to me.

Yeah looks like a bad card, call BFG and RMA it.

Maybe the new graphic cards are not ready for Furmark, AMD is having trouble too:

And this is some movie from a friend:

Anyway I had 100șC+ playing crysis, so my GTX280 is back on the shop for testing purposes.

Nah, Furmark is a tough program, but cards should not overheat... The majority of cards now work fine, several of the early ones had problems, some manufacturing fault. It just exposes the problem with overheating, it doesn't cause it...

Agreed. My new 4870x2 doesn't overheat at all. My GTX280 did in less than a min. depending on the settings.

Hi guys,
I registered here specifically for this issue. My GTX 280 (came w/my Dell XPS 630i) is having overheating issues as well. My card is watercooled and reaches 100C in Furmark within minutes. I tried using the Koolance VID 428 block and RMAed it thinking it was the block. I then tried the DD Tieton and had two replacement blocks sent to me, which the 3rd block made perfect contact with the GPU and still temps hit 100C+ in Furmark.

Dell will be replacing this card, hopefully I'll get one that works, because watercooled GTX's shouldn't even touch 60C.

This is definitely a problem Nvidia needs to fix. I'm very disappointed.

NVIDIA has fixed it for the most part, as most folks who have had to RMA their boards (myself included) have received working replacements. Yours should be no different.

It's pretty weird the card not going over 105șC even with the fan stopped. I noticed the card to reach "full 3d" frequencies launching "Steam" or "remote desktop" with a noticeable increase of the temperature.

Bad sensor of not, it's not possible to hold the hand over the card when it shows 105șC, it burns, and the air on the back of the case is really hot. I was thinking about to test another BIOS but at last I sent the card back to the shop because I don't want to loose the warranty.

Bye Bye Nvidia You Just lost another Customer!

I will in the Future use ATI and Crossfire

Although my Second Nvida 280 Gtx is Absolutely Fantastic, it Never passes 82C on Full load and it is FAST Regardless.

Had to RMA 1 card as it was pathetic. and thing is I paid 400GBP for it.
Asus 780i Motherboard RMA Overheating as Well.

I will in FUture get ATI products and Intel.

I tried to go SLI with my 45nm CPU but 780i Chipsets Have Overheating Defects and are juts Crap and have Overheating NB too

Going back to ATi and Intel like back in the good Old days.
