Default $350 for a motherboard??!!

Looking to get the most future proof and fast setup out and the 790i seems to be the ticket but DAMN! Cheapest MB is $319 with rebate.

Why is it so expensive? No one makes a 790i board for <$200???

with people paying 1000+ for CPU, 600+ for video cards, 600+ for ram, why not make an expensive board?

I've been eyeballing the 750i FTW 'board. I don't need Tri-SLI.

I don't need tons of bells and whistles, just a MB with the basics and overclocks stably. I can usually find that for $150 or less but not in the 790i chipset.

Does the 750i support 1600fsb though?

You don't need to spend an obscene amount of money on a motherboard. No matter how much you spend, it will be outdated in a year, guaranteed. Don't buy expensive sh1t to be future proof. Buy reasonably priced stuff that's got what you need cause you'll probably be looking at buying another one in a few years.

I've been getting along fine with my $160 Gigabyte P965 that I got 2 years ago.

Considering that Intel's next CPU doesn't even use the same socket, there's not much future proof about that board, unless you're happy with your current CPU, and plan to go tri-SLI for the next 2-3 GPU generations with the same CPU.
