this is my advice to you, buy the best that you are willing to afford then sit back and have fun and stop worring about what comes out another day. If you sit around and wait you will never have any fun because with tech there will alway be something bigger and better right around the corner, just have fun now.

Teraflop technology? The 280 Series doesn't offer such. So when will the card come out featuring such technology? What is the code name or product I.D. name assuming one is in development from NVIDIA?

OM What ever, I can just wait for something better! It won't take long to access such technology because I live near Fry's Electronics and Newegg is only 2-day delivery for me since I'm living out West now.

Only GTX280 SLI is an option for me otherwise my 8800GTX SLI setup does equally or better then single GTX280 and since GTX280 has no new features, no point of upgrading for me.
I still prefer 8800GTX over 9800GTX.

Anyways to answer the OP's question. No new generational leaps for another 18 months unless ATi pulls something out of the bag so feel free to buy the 280. Thinking about it to get the most out of the 280, you buy near enough release day and then sell when the next generation is coming out, well that's what I've been doing, it works for me.
