At first, the only things that bothered me was lack of Tripple Buffering and poor Vsync performance. Then, with some driver updates, image in SLI AFR mode become yellow-ish (probably genlock problem, like most significant bit of blue channel occasionally drop 1->0) in 2560x1600 mode. About the same time Nvidia drivers started to use high-resolution software timer, insted to hardware, to do a flip(). This introduced visible tearing in 2560x1600 in first 10-40 image lines when VSYNC ON. This driver update aslo improved AFR Vsync performance alot (it was always worse than single card before). With FW92.91 (1 month before 8800GTX release?) and later drivers SLI support just disappeared, and never came back. Last working drivers: FW91.47. (I wonder if Asus used hacked Nforce4 Ultra chips instead of nf4sli?) End of story. |

No issues at all.
I' ve had 8800GT SLi, 8800GTS 512 SLi, 9800GTX SLi and GTX280 SLi. Works like a charm. Sometimes with new games or demo's a profile has to be added in new drivers, but otherwise no problem.

I would love to resubmit my vote, but can't
I had selected 'no problems but some stuttering', but ever since the last two driver releases things are looking up. I'm very happy with my SLI setup now, more so than my last SLI rig with a pair of 7800 GT's.

The FW 9x.xx series were just plain troublesome fullstop IMO. I had plenty of profile troubles back then, just about drove me mad. Fortunately the driver situation has improved greatly since then. I have a friend I sold an old 7900GT 512mb card to, he likes oblivion, I'm still quite shocked at how well that runs on his system with the latest few drivers compared to how it used to run for me early 2007 with SLI'd 7900GTX's.

I just don't notice these micro sudders in SLI.I am glad .I have played with SLI with certain drivers that did give me little pauses and it drove me nuts. After a driver update it went away and I did'nt notice it anymore ,That was on my 8800GTS 640mb system ,gameing with a Dell 2405 at 1920x1200.

I'll be testing SLi soon. It will be interesting to see how it behaves on true 16 x 2 with the massive bandwidth available from the X58 platform.

Bah. It's up and running but the SLi bridge I have isn't the right length. Going to have to get one that's flexible.
I'm also waiting on a 1366 adapter for my Thermalright Ultra Extreme. I ordered the bridge from Sidewinder computers. Hope it works. http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/flslicafornv.html

Hello all! I just got on this forum, great advice going around!
![]() well here is my tale of woe with sli I just purchased a 3d animation/epic gaming rig from Velocity Micro, veryveryvery new computer, just came in 2 weeks ago. Great rig, runs like a ferrari, but my sli is having major problems. I have dual Nvidia gtx 260 core 216's and 90% of the time when i run a game in full screen it stutters, strobes, and the frame sometimes tears and smears to the side. The only game i really have to run Sli with is Crysis and the intro video (ea games logo thing, nvidia, and intel super mini clips at the start) tear to **** and back, but the main menu is great. No problems till i start the game, then it starts to tear, stutter, and stobe. I've updated the drivers from Evga, nvidia, and through the Device manager. Nothing really works. But what is really strange is when i run the game in windowed mode it runs great! ??????????? Any idea's why this happens? My rig: MSI X58 Pro-E mother board Dual Nvidia gtx 260 core 216's Intel i7 960 6g ddr3 ram 22" Asus monitor 1920x1080 resolution. Windows 7 home premium Direct link to my build from Velocity Micro. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all for your time. |
