Thanks but please note this "monitor" is a Sony KDS-R50XBR1 50-inch TV. The docs are available at the following URL but they do not give HorizSync and VertRefresh settings.
Thanks in advance for advice on figuring out the right values to use (or better yet, a working xorg.conf for this TV or its 60-inch cousin). |

nycvelo you need to realize that the display world has changed a lot in the last few years. The user manual would be useless, especially if the maker is Sony. You need to dump the EDID using a utility such as moninfo.exe from which you can deduce the maximum resolution supported by the monitor. Being it's a TV, there's a chance that if the manufacturer is diabolical (i.e. Sony), they would have left out this feature. Also you have to allow that they may have deliberately crippled the display beyond a certain (useless) resolution when in monitor mode.
Sorry to be a wet blanket, but this is the DRM world we live in, and Sony is one of its biggest champions. That's why I never buy anything with Sony written on it. The rootkit fiasco was what really highlighted for me how evil they really are. |
