Steam has this and Section 8 in a combo deal for $25 off... they both seem multiplayer centered though, so I am resisting.

Player Review
I am here to write a quick brief review about the game Raven Squad, I have played 2 missions of the game currently so please bare with me.

First off if you didn't know already this is a FPS/RTS game.

Presentation 7

The cutscenes of the game aren't really too good, they are liveable with but it all just seems boring, an example would be a cutscene where the plane your on have been shot with a missle and your going down, there was no panic or whatsoever they just said jump, there were like 6 guys on the plane, yet you only see 2 people jumping out. The cutscenes to the in game graphics are about the same but the cutscenes are a bit better looking.

Gameplay 6.5

The gameplay is pretty stale, it doesn't really pick up the adrenaline, there are many invisible walls in the game, including where inside the battlefield there are invisible walls like right in the middle of the battlefield like the small details like rocks and plants. In the 2nd mission where you get to control 2 teams you can play as either one, it forces you more into the RTS than the FPS gameplay you could play FPS but then 1 team would be a waste and would just stand there, there is no team A.I when your not using the other team, so it is really frustrating going back and forth to the RTS view to control the other unused team. The controls aren't the best they have problems but they are ok to use and passable.

Sound 5

The sound in the game is truly horrible, sound is a important part in a game as it is one of the main parts of a game to make the player feel that they are actually there and it picks up the adrenaline, the voices are talking like they are in a room just chatting even though after they just jumped out of a plane because it got shot by a missle, and yet 2 pilots got shot in the head with a bullet and they are just talking like it has no impact on them or anything, and it is annoying most of the time when you shoot down an enemy your teammate will say "1 enemy down" or a similar phrase I don't really remember the exact phrase but they will say something like that its always the same phrase in the same state of voice. The background music doesn't really like make you feel that you gotta kill the enemy or anything at all. Overall the voice acting, music is horrible.

Graphics 7

The graphics aren't today's standards they are maybe a year or two old type of graphics, there are games that are from a few years back that look as good or even better than Raven Squad's Graphics, but they are alright type of graphics nothing outstanding really, games like Unreal Tournament 3, Call of Duty 4, etc... games like those have way better graphics than Raven Squad and they were made last year or years before.

Last Appeal 6

There are so many better FPS games out there than Raven Squad, I wouldn't say avoid this at all cost, but this game surely isn't worth the $39.99 price tag, I would say it's a good deal when the price tag becomes $19.99, even if you have played all FPS games out there I would suggest you to skip this one and wait for upcoming ones or pick up a older one from 2008 or 2007 would be better than buying Raven Squad.

Overall Average 6.3

If the bad guys dont keep respawning after every 10 seconds and the main female sidekick has any trace of human personality, this will be better than FarCry2.

Relax guys...

Bought this. $.99 Worth every penny.

Its not bad. Just finished tut and 1/2 into first mission. Not so easy. Died pretty quick. Seems like they applied some RTS hit box settings to FPS mode cause I aim straight at the baddies and they don't die or even seem to register a hit much of the time.

Graphics aren't too bad. Game feels very Eastern Europe or Russian.

Game feels simplified, most likely cause of consoles. RTS part is basic and so is the FPS part. Need more play to see if tactics or how much strategy there is in this one.

Almost finished with this game and I'm actually liking it quite a bit. Yeah the voice acting, story, and to a milder degree, graphics are not that great.

What is great are the moments when your squads are on the verge of out of control chaos and defeat.

Controlling and somehow managing the battle back to your favor with your squads via the overhead RTS view or actually taking matter in your own hands in FPS has a definite badass, coolness factor to it.

The moments of battle control bliss are somewhat far between but haven't had this feeling since playing Mechwarrior 2.
