Thumbs down Valve Hosed up DODS

Smoke casues to much lag now, looks the same.

I had a couple of concerns in the Beta stage now theres more.

They added and candy coated shell to make you think the game is better, but where it counts the game play has dropped the ball.

If I stop playing DODS(and there a problem already with the amount of player out there already), I also stop playing other steam games, its that simple.

What are your specs?

Any time I hear of certain things slowing down games, I like to know what systems people are running.

Yeah the jump from green and black to cyan, magenta and black really put a hurt on PCs back then...

I've been playing dod since the first beta back in 2001 and I agree the latest version of DoD:S is pretty bad (gameplay wise). TBH this doesn't even really surprise me. Valve makes good games but they have a history of ****ting all over mods. Same thing happened to CS when it went retail and the original DoD when it went retail.

They probably changed up the gameplay in order to sell more copies or something since the updates correlate with the fact that their offering a free DoD:S weekend event.

Who the hell ever decided the CGA color palette anyways? What kind of idiot designed it?

It's like "OK, we have black and white, but we can add two more colors!" "How about the ugliest shades of pink and blue imaginable by man?" "Sounds good!"

Did you check his sig?

It appears his setup is something like this:

Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7300
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600 GS
Memory: 2048 MB

It appears to be laptop.

I've been wondering that myself for a very long time. I'm just glad I missed most of that by being born in 1986.

Oh, no I guess it didn't even occur to me that that link would have his system specs. Heh.

If he's using an 8600 GS, its not really a big surprise that a small update would hurt performance. Still, it is annoying when changes like this are made to improve performance but end up hurting it for some.

Played/ing the Dod:S beta and it runs well. Some servers do have more lag now, but others are perfectly fine, could be the new stats/achievement system that requires more bandwidth and some servers aren't up to task.
