Default Re: HD 4870 vs GTX 260

Ok,

Has anyone actually benched a GTX 260 then a 4870 in the same system....and did some comparisons like Lord Juanlo did here:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=115791

Someone Please do this so we can end this pointless fanboi flamewar.

I'm in the market for a new card and I'm looking once again to NVnews to provide an unbiased realistic opinion about the current products available so that I can make an informed decision.....no where in here can I find any room for Flaming Fanbois.

This thread is about facts.....not about opinions...why are we so horribly off track.

Unfortunately, I won't be doing that kind of comparison. However, from reading reviews, the cards seem to split benchmarks 50/50. I might give a nuthair performance edge to the 4870, at most. However, the DX10.1 support seals the deal for me. IMO, the 4870 is the superior card between the two.

Congrats, Rollo; for missing the point and spouting your usual tripe, you have the distinct honor of being only the 2nd individual that I've ever placed on my ignore list.

If anyone is doing any spamming at all its you with your typical ATI hate BS. Your just pissed off at the fact that ATI has come out with something thats actually very competitive. Get over yourself.

How do you know what's "typical" for me here since this is the first I posted since you joined?

You're a banned person, returning with a new name IMO.

I don't understand all the hate honestly. Everyone just needs to stop the fan boy crap and see these cards for what they are. The 4870 is a good card imo for the price. I upgraded from a 8800 gts 640 and it was a rather large upgrade so I am happy. Not everyone games at massive resolutions and so they don't need the most expensive cards out there. As for the guys having issues with ccc well no idea why since it runs fine for me and loads faster than the nvidia control panel did /shrug. I game at 1680 1050 and perfectly happy at that resolution so I think it's pointless to get a gtx 280 for me. See how that works? What's good for one person is not good for another.

IMHO all 4 cards are good for what each idvidual may need. The 4850 has price/performance. the 4870/260 are equals trading blows across the board with the edge going to the 4870 at 8xAA because of he number of filters that keep it from taking a big hit. The 280 fits those with the cash to blow and the need to have the absolutely fastest thing available.

Next week, maybe crossword puzzles.

Sorry, call it like I see it, some new member joins, posts relentlessly about the glory of ATi, says they know my ways...sniff....sniff....I smell "agenda".

For the benefit of those who have better things to do than call out other members as you can't see this. I wish every fanATic would follow your lead and ignore me, although you're sort of defeating the purpose of "Ignore" by posting at me.

Umm, you do understand you just responded to someone who has you on ignore, right?

Good job, rocket scientist.
