Yeah, as developers. Not as much as end users (like on this forum). Anyway, that doesn't mean that you can sue NVIDIA for bad Linux support, when there is no official (still, AFAIK) Linux support.

I don't know if this bug or not, but my new 9600GT/512mb/256bit/ddr3
shows poor glxgears FPS, only

11052.400 FPS

My 2 years old 7600GT/256mb/128bit/ddr3 shows about
10000.000 FPS

How is it possible ?

I was expecting 1.8x or 2x times advantage.
I tried newer 177.70 beta driver with the same results.

What's wrong ?

glxgears is not a benchmark.

Run UT2004 demo or quake4/doom3 demo or something. That will show "some" improvements.

Whatever, the point is, AFAIK, NVIDIA does very well with Linux support IMO. How often do you get in direct contact with developers on a forum?
Nvidia support (and their drivers) was just parody some time ago. It's little better right now thanks to all that complaining here. Their drivers are still piece of crap IMO. They're fixing some issues and breaking something else same time... I've never had such latency when typing here.

Stop complaining and file a _detailed_ bug report with steps on how to reproduce the problem.

Stop saying bull****. You missed all those bug reports?

And stop saying bull**** like:

*sigh* ..what happened to the good old days when you didn't need a quadcore to maximize windows in under 2 seconds....

>They're still here. Use another WM or something.

You should say use Ati or Intel card.

ah, thanks
I've just downloaded Unigine v0.4 for linux and started it
by adding /data directory from its windows version

7600GT: 32FPS
9600GT: 200FPS

Great, it shows improvements

Please don't infect the thread with language like that. Makes the whole thing less serious.

And, I mean, if people are experiencing problems that severe (2secs to minimize a window), why continue to use that software/hardware solution? Just switch to something that works (8600M GT + gnome here, all well, with or without compiz), a different DE/WM, or card etc.

Some of your talk makes this thread less serious.

That's right, but you mentioned only WM not card manufacturer before. Problems are with nvidia drivers not WM's and people expect that nvidia will fix those problems. It seems that nv guys woke up after half year, because all that complaining was getting louder and louder.

ATI isn't problem free. Intel doesn't have graphic cards with 3D performance. So:

great 2D
great 3D

Pick one
