Default Best Thermal Gel/Heatsink Compound

I have used Arctic Silver 5 for years, but I can believe there is nothing better by now. Can anybody point out something better than AS5??

I think MX-2 matches or is even slightly better than AS5...

Better then AS-5? Try the Innovation Cooling (IC) Diamond 7-Carat Thermal Compound (uses diamonds since they offer the highest thermal conductivity of basically anything. Much more so then silver or copper).

http://www.innovationcooling.com/article1.htm

Oh, and how about some proof:

http://www.amdzone.com/index.php/reviews/cooling/7993

"It seems that there is definitely a more than viable alternative to Arctic Silver 5 on the market place now. While the results weren't jaw dropping they certainly were impressive and warrant your attention. Five degrees Fahrenheit is a respectable drop and we weren't the only ones to attain that..."

I'm using the IC Diamond 7-Carat Thermal Compound my self, and it works as promised.

I'm using it with the Zalman 9700 and it appears to be doing quite well. I always used Ceramique in the past.....for non conductivity issues.

I have to use Ceramique now because of the low freezing point, but I still like STG1

Nice. It works really well, just keep in mind that its THICK, so it takes a little effort to get it to spread thinly. I used the "line application" method and squished it around on the CPU with my heatsink base. That seemed to work much better then pre-spreading it with a credit card.
