The team is currently ranked amongst the top 160 in the world and with the release of a new client for Nvidia cards, finally we can have a legion of new users join on

The client works under XP and Vista and even Vista x64. Consider signing on at your convenience

You do NOT have to use your graphics card at 100% utilization. I have mine set at 70% and I can still play most of my games (including TF2) with the client folding in the background. For more intensive games, it is recommended to pause the client and resume once you are done gaming.

This is for a worthy cause and the results are transmitted directly to Stanford's servers.

Several websites have teams folding away, HardOCP is the number 1 team overall. We have done fairly well with a limited number of dedicated folders but with the raw power of the recent Nvidia GPU's unleased, we can make a serious move with small and consistent contributions from more people.

All contributions help, even if it's just a 1 point average and you do not have to fold 24/7. Fold when you can, donate your spare cycles to research and to finding cures as a result of that research.

You can literally fly with an 8800GTX. I'm generating about 4300PPD right now per 8800GTX. My 9600GT comes in around 3500ppd. The 8800GTS G92 cards I believe get over 5K PPD. If you have a GTX 280 I believe they pull over 8K PPD.

Check out the stats page. Just over 9000 GPUs are churning out 1PetaFlop. With a little help the GPUs will overtake the 48K PS3s.

In order to use the GPU folding you need to have a CUDA enabled driver, aka 177.35 or above. I've used the 177.35, 177.39, 177.66 drivers and all of them seem to be working. The latest GPU client can always be found in this thread. http://foldingforum.org/viewforum.ph...4d8bf1a5506029

If you need help installing it just ask. A couple of notes, if you are using SLI it will unfortunately need to be disabled for this to work, so if that's a problem you can probably just use the SMP CPU client instead. There is also support for Radeon cards as well.

For Single GPU users I recommend the Systray installer, as it is the easiest to use and provides a GUI to setup and manage the client.

One more point of consideration. The group # is 35216 and is the NVnews OSNN and SP group. There is an older group floating around so some people were folding for the wrong team.

I was just wondering how significant the difference was. I know graphics cards are much better at this stuff than CPUs.

Yea it's really hard to tell. It varies wildly between what type of WU you are doing. I can get an idea for you in a few minutes though. I'll load up the SMP on my C2Q 3.15ghz and get a number for it.

Yea Muya had a pretty good guess. I'm looking at around 2000 ppd for my OC'ed quad core. (100% usage) So I'd guess around 1000 ppd for a dual core at 3.15ghz.

But, my 8800GT does 4800 PPD, which is way faster than my 3.1ghz E6300 could do

Ill have to run the CPU client tomorrow and compare numbers.

BTW, anyone with a GTX 260 know how many points per day it can crank out?

If anyone has a system just sitting around, on 24/7 or a fair bit, just stick on the client and up it to like even 50% instead of 100% load.

It scales back to allow productivity when some other application is run

I'm not exactly sure. I went from four smp clients on two C2Qs @ 3.2 to three smp clients and the GPU client. It's only been a few days, but my daily average has already gone from ~6k to 9k and climbing.

And until I got the 280 I hadn't been gaming much so I was basically folding 24/7 since I didn't have to turn them off for anything. The GPU clients (when @ 100%) slows down the whole system so I'm not running it while gaming or doing any graphic intensive work. I think that once I settle in to my usual routine this card will probably get close to doubling my folding output. So my educated guess on the daily output when running almost 24/7 would be 7k - 8k just for the 280.

And btw, it rocks for gaming! I really love it!!!!
