I'm all for ads on the site to pay for things, but this is just imposing on the functionality of the site. When an ad prevents you from using the site, people are rightfully going to get p*ssed and start using ad blockers. I'm about to do the same, it's sucks, I know, but when you put an ad like that on here, what do you expect?

The Wargames anniversary ad is the same way.

I turned on my adblocker for NvNews today. It was trying to load an ad that wouldn't load properly, so stopped the rest of the page loading. :

Agreed. I was fine with viewing ads as I have respect for how the site make money. Nothing is truly free and your temporary attention is the price. However, the functionality is disrupted by these drop downs and I have resorted to enabling adblock to be able to view the site with out five extra clicks. I have no problem with burning a few CPU cycles on flash ads, but sometimes I just want to get to the post and go.

So I wonder if these ads actually lead to more click-through traffic, intentionally forcing them in your path by design? How many have you accidentally clicked on?

Agreed. I contacted Netshelter this morning and mentioned the complaints with some of the ads. From what I can tell, the ads that drop down to form a larger ad should only do so when the user clicks within the ad itself. Unfortunately, the large ad seems to be appearing most of the time at will, which makes it difficult to interact with the site.
