Hey thats my opinion, I see value in those features especially Physx, since I like Cellfactor, GRAW and UT3.

Well considering I have a physX card sitting in my closet that I paid $300 for, that cannot be used because there are no slots in my rig. Cellfactor and GRAW were pretty cool though I thought.
Cellfactor more so though.

Even three GTX280s have to work to keep up with dual 4870X2s, or so it's appearing. Won't know for certain for a few more weeks of course. ![]() |

Very nice - good answears.
I just have some more questions because I'm a little ''lasy'' to look for answears: - what is micro struttering (they mention that a lot around ATI 4870) - what are all the different AA modes I'm seeing in pictures you can set in ATI CCC and wich are best quality/performance to select? Thank you. Toni |

microstutter happens most often with SLi or Crossfire setups, but can also happen with single card on some occasions. it is a slow down in video rendering caused by many different reasons. but it so brief that often doesn't show up on decrease in FPS. It is hard to explain. Good example would be if you are watching a movie, and every 20 or some frames, it skips 2-3 frames.
ATI cards have plenty off AA modes, but they are missing some of the most important modes, like Super-Sampling AA and Combined modes (Multi-Sampling and Super-Sampling)

Why bother with a poll when you will get whatever you want anyways?

I would have to say the GTX260. I have owned both. I would say that Ati has better hardware this round. But what killed it for me was the drivers. Dont get me wrong, most things worked perfectly fine. But I had a few problems that drove me crazy. No matter what you do, AA won't work in Mass Effect. I had tons of problems with Age of Conan. AA would only work with World of Warcraft if you either turn off Catalyst A.I. or set it to application controlled...plus other small issues. Also, to get the card to idle less than 80c you have to go in and edit an overdrive profile. I know these are simple things, but they should also be simple for Ati to fix, who doesnt seem for fix hardly anything in their monthly updates.
So, I would say....ATi = Better hardware with O.K. drivers... Nvidia = Better software with very good hardware...at least in my opinion.

WoW has been fine for me with Catalyst AI both off or on with AA maxed. AoC also ran fine (relatively speaking because the 8 year old engine blows) while I had it. I had way more issues with my 8800GTS-320 in AoC than my 4850. I had extremely bad texture 'pop' with the 8800 and none with the 4850 (I didn't see any and quit playing very soon after). By 'pop', I mean that the textures would come in blurry with no filtering enabled. You must not have had old NV drivers cleaned out or something. |

that is the weird part they knew about the fan and heating problem for a while, no idea why they simply wouldn't fix it in their recently released 8.7 driver.
