I found the solution. The card needs to have a BIOS update. evga told me that there was no update for the card, but I found a copy of the BIOS from a newer card here http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/i...ace=&memSize=0. I did a quick update and the nvidia driver booted perfectly.
