Default Who has used IP cameras before?

My boss wants me to read up and learn about how IP cameras work..
We currently build underwater video cameras that just use the stand RCA video.

I've tried google and can only find people trying to sell me cameras.. I want to learn about them first

Where can I find some reading material?? or some things to know?

Personally, I still prefer Coax CCTV systems. You can build a $400-$500 with a 16-32 channel DVR card for roughly the same price, which comes with the software that records and can control PTZ units; which can be quite expensive if purchased seperately. Plus you wont have to worry about cat5 limitations. Coax with 18 gauge low-voltage does just fine .
