Question Anyone gotten the 173.14.12 nVidia driver to work with RedHat EL 4.7, kernel 2.6.9-78

I have a Quadro FX 550 on a Redhat EL 4.7 x86_64 system (kernel 2.6.9-78.ELsmp) and cannot get the 173.14.12 driver to work. It works if I build the kernel module for 2.6.9-55ELsmp:

# lspci |grep VGA
07:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV43GL [Quadro FX 550] (rev a2)

# sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-173.14.12-pkg2.run

No errors are thrown, I allow nvidia-xconfig to config xorg.conf
I scanned through xorg.conf and everything looks correct, Driver "nvidia"

Any ideas?

check /var/log/messages we here have found out that there is an IRQ conflict and we can get it to work if we disable the onboard audio device. In messages there will be a message about cannot access IRQ 169. I hope someone comes out with a patch for this soon.

cool, I'll check on that, although I'm pretty sure I'll catch a lot of grief from the users :-)
