I've actually never played Bionic Commando. Before the sequel and the remake were announced I'd never even heard of it. Was it more popular outside the US or something?

hmm I've heard of it, but I think this it the first time I've actually see how it plays. There are probably a lot of rip-offs of that game cause I've seen several similar to that.
