Default Massive Team Fortress 2 Update Incoming

Quote:
We've been a little quiet for the last week as we've put the finishing touches on the Heavy update. We thought the Pyro pack was the biggest we'd be doing for a while, due to the large changes to the Pyro, but the Heavy update has turned out to be even bigger. In addition to the three unlockable weapons and thirty-five achievements for the Heavy, we've got a new game mode with five new arenas for it, a new Payload map focusing on more open spaces than Goldrush, and another popular community-made map. Throughout the rest of the week we'll be giving you the details on all this, and if all goes well, you'll have your hands on it shortly afterwards.

The community-made map included in the Heavy update is cp_steel, by Jamie 'Fishbus' Manson. After the Pyro update we received a lot of email telling us how wrong we were in our choices, and cp_steel was an easy next choice due to the way it dominated the suggestions. If you're firing up your email right now to tell us that we never get anything right, please include suggestions of what map(s) we should be looking at next.

We'll be updating A Heavy Update site with more info daily. Stay tuned!
7 new maps+game modes+heavy unlocks!!

I still hate the unlocks and always will hate em.
They purposely take away content for 90% of the people that will never ever get the unlocks.

I agree when the medic one originally came out... but since they brought it down to like... 22 achievements to unlock all 3 weapons, it is so easy to get that many.

There are achievement servers running special maps and rules that make it extremely easy to get achievements.

Its surprisingly fun too and actually feels almost like a co-op game most of the time because a lot of the achievements are damn near impossible to get without two people cooperating on opposing teams.

For those of us who don't spend 90% of our gaming time with one game, its a nice way to get all of the goodies that everyone else enjoys.

The maps are also very small so it should only take a few seconds to download them from the game servers.

I had a BLAST getting achievements with a Canadian guy who spoke French and only knew a few dozen English words. It was pretty awesome when we actually figured out what the other guy wanted and accomplished it. Celebrating with jumps and taunts seems to be a universal language, and that makes it pretty damn cool.

I actually learned some French too... "raille" seems to refer to "taunt" in TF2.

Yeah, how could these ****ers give us free content? I mean more maps and gameplay additions without any additional cost? Bloody insane!

They are easy to find on the server browser.

I thought this game was the **** until they started all this unlock crap. Just give us new classes or something. Why make people go thru the hassle of unlocking anything when you can just get on a special server and get the all achievements you need in one night.

Also, the one at a time way they are handling things is lame. It was great to do the medic first, as it would encourage people to play them more. For the other classes, they should all bee released at the same time. I get sick of seeing almost half teams as pyros.

Just sort the server list by map name and look for things like "achievementbox", "achievementbox_b3", "achievementbox_b4_pyro_medic".

Sometimes its easier to do some things when there are only a few people, other times you want to get on a server that's loaded.
