Are you overclocking the video card at all? If so, run it at the stock clocks and try it. Just because the temps are within spec, doesn't mean that an OC isn't going to cause artifacting.

Sorry, I couldn't resist posting that.
 Anyway... you installed a newer driver and its gone right? Then it was just a driver glitch of some sort. If it returns, make sure your card isn't overclocked and try running your computer with the side off of the case, just in case it is a cooling problem.
