I have been working through the problems on my nforce2 motherboard and I am slowly getting somewhere.
Next on my list is getting the full speed from my hard drive. According to all info on inet I need to patch and recompile the kernel. Ok, for a newbie that's fairly scary but there is plenty of info around. Unfortunately everything I read about this process requires that I have the kernel-headers installed. I have checked rpms on the system and on the 3 RH9 cds and they don't seem to be there. I have done a 'find' with no luck. Am I looking in the wrong place or are they missing? I am running RH9 2.4.20-8. Kennedy |

If using the latest NForce drivers (v256) I believe, NVidia reports that the ide, usb, modem drivers are included with redhat 9.0 and not in the latest driver release.
I have also seen on some posts that you need to set some parameters up for the drives to get ata mode out of them dragonlord |

The Redhat kernel headers are in a package named:
kernel-source-<version stuff here>.rpm

Thanks
I've got them now. They seem to have been installed but there was no trace of a kernel-headers rpm. I went on to try and patch the kernel and I get lots of failed messages and do I want to reverse the patch? It seems that the 2.4.20-8 kernel that RH9 provides is a mixture of 2.4.20 and 2.4.21. I am going to put up another post re kernel versions etc. Regards Kennedy |
