Default CoD 5 back to WWII

I just posted this on my own site and should be getting my own confirmation end of week on this * This will also be released on the PC

CVG is reporting that the next issue of Xbox 360: The Official Magazine (in subscribers hands now) will take place in the Pacific as well as parts of Russia.
The fifth game in the CoD series, which is being developed by CoD3 studio Treyarch, ditches the number subtitle and expectedly returns to WWII - but the developer stresses it's not the same theatre we've seen a million times before.

It all takes place in the Pacific theatre (and partially in Russia's advance into Berlin) says OXM, which all in all was a much grittier and darker conflict that the one in muddy Belgium fields.
They go on to say that this issue will be released on June 13th, issue 35 of Xbox 360 The Official Magazine. Note that while this is being reported via a Console mag, we should be seeing it on the PC as well.

We should be receiving more information personally very soon and will try and release any info we can when we can.

what? i could have sworned that we did this one already. wasn't there a mission in previous COD game that took Russians into Berlin?

knowing Treyarch this will be a poor game

on positive note, no more modern crap from COD4, yes i don't like COD4. COD2 is still the best in the series.

Same here.

I hope that the Pacific theater gets a better treatment in CoD that it did in MoH.

What parts of CoD4 don't you like? I thought the story was not bad, and the multiplayer component is alot of fun. The servers i play on are usually cheat free most of the time, i have only encounted one lame botter -.-.

The stats/ranking system defiantly is the weakest of this, but it does get alot of fun mixing perks/guns .

Guess I won't be buying this one! WWII games . . . there are too many of them.

I like the idea of a really dark tone, but the gameplay will probably be lacking, knowing CoD3. Still, it wasn't a BAD game by any means, just lacking compared to 2 and 4. I also don't mind the WW2 settings, as long as it's well done...

Anyone else find it interesting it drops the 5? Treyarch released a couple CoD side projects before, United Offensive and The Big Red One (which makes the "fifth in the series" statement false, btw), but CoD3 was a big deal because they gave them an official number. It seems now they have taken it away... I wonder if the next Infinity Ward game will have a 5.

I guess im gonna be waiting for IW/Activision to do CoD6 then as i wont be Getting the effort made by treyarch.

WW2 has been done to death now.....modern and future warfare is the way forward.

On a good note i can't see CoD5 steeling the crown from CoD4 as the best multiplayer FPS game to date which is good news.
