Default Twinview spanning problems.

Hi, I have 2 X screens, both running twinview, So i have 4 outputs kinda like this

| [ 1 ] [ 2 ] | | [ 3 ] [ 4 ] |

(So i can drag windows between 1 and 2, or 3 and 4, but not between 2 and 3)

So, the problem is that i have strange spanning problems. Maximized windows maximize properly onto the correct screen. However, gnome-panel spans both displays, splash windows for applications open up inbetween the displays, full screen flash movies play at 2560x1024, however they only show on the left monitor (So i can only see the left or right half of the movie)

Hopefully someone here will be able to help me, thanks in advance

windows maximize correctly, looks like your X server provides the right Xinerama information. Are you sure your applications are compiled with Xinerama support? On gentoo you'd need to enable the Xinerama USE flag.

However, there are still a couple of applications that don't support Xinerama well, flash is one of them.

I'm not using xinerama, I'm using twinview.

I would be inclined to use xinerama, but it uses composite, and i want to have 2 seperate x screens, both running twinview, i'm not sure if xinerama can do that (But that doesn't matter anyway, because i need composite :P)

I don't know about compiling stuff with twinview support, if there is a way to do it. If you could give me some more in depth instructions i'll give it a go

Well, Xinerama can mean several things, see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...95#post1684195

nvidia uses it's own "fake" Xinerama extension when using twinview to report screen boundaries to your programs. It's separate from the X Xinerama extension, in fact they won't even work together.

about Xinerama support, it really depends on your distribution. If you use binary packages, Xinerama support is probably built in already.
