Question 177.68-x64 X multithreading bug FC 8

I am developing an C++ OpenGL application for research purposes. My OpenGL commands run in a seperate thread, using XinitThreads(). I am using Qt-4.3.4 in combination with FC 8 and a Geforce 9600 GT.
The basic usage of the codework is downloadable here :

( see thread_cube, GCC4 Qt 4 version )

This application runs fine on my laptop, but fails to run on the desktop. I have attached the nvidia-bug-report of the desktop and laptop to this post. ( laptop suffixed with _laptop ) The application freezes sooner or later, or segfaults..
Laptop spec : CentOS 5.1 x64, 8600GS, NV 169.12, Qt-4.3.4
Desktop spec: FC8 x64, 9600GT, NV 177.68, Qt-4.3.4

Unfortunately, upgrading to the newest driver did not help and I can not test with 169.12 used on my laptop, since that does not support the 9600GT.

As the software itself (threaded_cube application) is identical on both machines, the fault must either be with X or with the NVidia driver. Maybe someone could shed some light on this ?
