I find it hard to believe SLI 280s can't handle this game. You sure SLI is working properly in CS??

If true, this game is worse than Crysis and certainly doesn't look as good.

The performance with MSAA in DX10 is 50% lower. There is only one mode and is probably 4x. Maybe it is better to use the NV control panel and MSAA 2x . And with the "god rays" in the morning also has a big loss of perfomance . But the perfomance without AA is a 50 % better than in Crysis in Dx10 and all settings in maximum.

About the methods of AA with deferred shading, the developer of the Xray, Oles Shishkovtsov, has an interesting entry on his blog.

Unfortunately , Oles since spring of 2007 does not work at GSC, like the the project manager and chief designer of STALKER Andrei Prokhorov and other important developers of STALKER . That absence is clear in Clear Sky, the game does not have the same magic

Wow, didn't know Stalker had a falling out....get it..ha.

My most recent question would be, are the great Stalker modders working on Clear Sky to fix up stuff best as possible to give it the same Stalker appeal?

I have played through the Russian version (retail copy) and there really isn't any stuff to fix up to be honest. The game looks times better than the original even in direct x 9. Takeaways IMHO, would be lack of iron sights while using pistols and the collision detection. Not to mention the insane pressure the application levels against your processor, stuttering and pausing every once in a while for a-life events. Overall, it is a great game and definitely provides the post apocalyptic fix fans require of the genre. Jonelo did mention that it becomes sort of like call of duty 4 toward the end and I would agree, but wouldnt subtract for it.

Edit: Stuttering is likely being exacerbated by the fact that i have the AMD X2 6000 and the lack of at least a SATA drive as oppsed to EIDE...

I'd love to get dx10 for the soft water, wet surfaces and god rays, but the performance hit was too big for me, might try again because before I was running most things max.

and yes I think it looks better in dx9 full lighting too.

Liking the game so far runs OK with a few settings turned down hopefully a patch will fix the performance issues I am getting with the "enhanced" lighting modes.

Have a dumb question about the gameplay though, just before you goto the swamp you can speak to an NPC called Nimble to get information on a paratrooper stash, but it doesnt seem to place any icon on the map to tell you where this stash is, does anyone know where abouts this stash is? I have attached a screenshot of the dialog.

Open your map: a purple circle with 3 triangles in it is the stash.

I'm not having any problems that you guys are having. 1920x1080, I just dropped all options to High, tweaked the grass distance/view distance, turned Sun Quality/Rays and SSAO to Medium, turned off Sun Shadows and AA then turned on Dx10. Instant 48 - 70 FPS, hasn't been lower yet. And i haven't even installed the first patch yet!

Edit: I also got around the "Mugging". I merely killed them all.
