my bro just got a samsung T220 22" LCD.
TN+film , fast 2ms panel. good color , i was shocked ! really good color , and really , really fast.

Last time i checked modern panel , i was disappointed. but i must admit this T220 is really a great product (visually wise. the foot of panel is crappy). only 340$

I picked up my 2, 22" LaCie blue monitors (a II and a IV) The resolution is great but now I need a hefty desk to put them on, The PC workstation I have now would crumble with just 1 of them.

I just picked up a LaCie 22" CRT off Craigslist a few months ago. I love it. It's a monster and I had to rearrange my office desk so it could sit on the most well supported spot but the image quality on this things is fantastic. I wish I could find a second one.

I don't think I really agree with this, I used a NEC FE2111SB CRT monitor for years, with a 24 dot pitch. I was reluctant to switch to LCD because of the dot pitch and response time.

About 2 years ago, I decided to switch anyways, now I have a Dell 2007 monitor, and the difference in clarity goes to the LCD IMO, I was blown away at the difference in clarity and brightness, and fact that I notice no blurring or response issues compared to the CRT.

My NEC FE2111SB is now sitting in the shed behind my house Great monitor, but really doesn't compare to my LCD IMO.

with 1600x1050 pixel on 22 inch , you haven't enough precision. amha...

i compared 1400x1050 & 1600x1200 on 19.8" viewable (22" CRT IBM trinitron) against 2048x1536 (80Hz) . and the dice has rolled: we still need higher resolution display. going to 2048 make few thing.
your eye can adpat itself and you are able to see thing smaller than what you have with 0.28 dot pitch . 1400x1050 is FAR inferior in my eye than 2048. (on 19.8" , it's about equal to what you have on 22" wide 1600x1050)

conclusion ? we need 0.22 dot pitch display. until we have that, increase texture quality is useless. let alone photorealistic lighting, wich rasterization can give an answer.

my 2 cents

umh sure .. . .

When OLEDs with Displayport or whatever come to the fore (and within my price range) I will switch, I'll pass on LCD.
