Default 40" TV on PC / monitor and TV setup?

Ok, so I've got my PC connected to an lcd monitor. 19inch. Nothing flash, but I only use it for net and stuff like that. Now, I've just connected my LCD TV (Sony KDL40V4000, 40" 1080P) via dvi to hdmi cable. Here's my question...

How the hell do I get them to act as seperate monitors instead of clones or one big one? for example, I remember a while ago I used to be able to maximise a movie playing on the tv when I drag it over to that screen, and it would maximise on the TV ONLY. At the moment, it's spreading over BOTH monitors. BTW my video card is a 7900GT. Nothing flash, but it does the job...well I'm hoping it will.

any suggestions?
