Unhappy 71.86.06 fc9 x86 with GeForce2 GTS/Pro

Hi and thanks for the video card.
Sadly I can't get this going. I did have the nvidia driver working a few years ago but I got tired of updating it with each new kernel so I gave up.
Now my favourite game wants the 3d capabilities and I'm trying to get it going again.
I noticed the akmod-nvidia stuff and installed all the linva packages
Everything goes fine until I try to run it

(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so
dlopen: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so: undefined symbol: AllocateScreenPrivateIndex
(EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so
(II) UnloadModule: "nvidia"
(EE) Failed to load module "nvidia" (loader failed, 7)

Awwww so at least the nv driver still works, but it seems slower now

Can anyone help?

Neither the 71.* or 96.* legacy drivers work with the pre-release xorg-server packaged with Fedora 9. You will have to either downgrade the X server, or use Fedora 8.

However xorg-server 1.5.0 was just released this week, and the ABI has been stable for a while so hopefully updated legacy drivers will be out soon.

Thanks. I was afraid of that, but I couldn't find any details on if this had been solved yet and plenty of posts for people trying.
I'll be looking forwards to the new release. Thanks again

Thumbs up Re: 71.86.06 fc9 x86 with GeForce2 GTS/Pro

Well fedora has released xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.5.0-2.fc9.i386.rpm

Is there any update on the new legacy nvidia driver and if it will support glx?

Thanks again
