Worth the upgrade?

I currently have a Evga 8800GT SSC 512MB(see sig) ... i have the chance to upgrade to a ASUS GTX260 896MB for a really cheap price, is it really worth the upgrade? how much more power does the GTX260 have compared to my 8800GT? and would i notice that much of a difference?

Yes it is worth the upgrade .In some games the GTX260 is twice as fast as the 8800GT SSC

Yes do it, i gone from a 9800GTX to a GTX 260 SC and wow somes games don't show much improvement but, Surpeme Commander FA and Company of Heroes DX10 shows very good improvements. More so for COH w/ DX10 min frame rates was 6x faster.

Take a look at the table below (from anandtech's GT280 review iirc). I know it compares 8800GTX to GTX280, but the results are still applicable to your situation, just scaled back slightly.

So you can see that anything heavy on shader power or ROP Blending or both (example: Oblivion with HDR enabled) will see a healthy performance increase over g80/g92.

But did you consider to get a 4870x2? the perfromance of the card and the price really make it very attractive, I was consider to upgrade my 8800gtx to 280gtx few weeks ago, but when someone post a link and some beachmark about the 4870x2 in my topic, I changed my mind.
