I was just thinking the same

I think he does good work but alot of the characterization is lost in his models. I mean the G-Man looks so meh for a higher quality model, I prefer the old model aswell as the Alyx.

I agree, some of the characters he just made them too unlike and different looking. I'd prefeer the original look but with enhanced texture/models, not new models that doesn't even look like the original chars..

cheers

While some may question our benefactors choice of female protagonist I feel it only fair to point out he can do whatever the hell he likes with his gifts and can bestow upon us whatever he feels fit to.

i think he should stop with version 9, it is nice work, but there are so many other games that could benefit from his work.

I heard the quake 1 engine can still kick serious butt...

But the new OpenGL stuff that carmack is developing.. THAT'S what I'm wanting to see in action.

Cinematic mod looks great but there's only so much that can be done before you hit the limitations of the engine and I believe that's what has happened. The textures look nice but the way the game renders light on models the way cryengine and the ID Tech5 engine does is just on a totally different level than anything else ..

This image is fake. The face in the bottom left corner is from an Nvidia tech demo for the 8800.

FakeFactory will be adding in updated "standard" characters, not sure if it will make CM9 but there will be an option to use the regular characters with updated textures instead of the new models which I agree are just too different. Plus CM9 will work far better on 32bit systems, you won't need 64-bit to play it without crashing - might not enable everything in 32 bit but at least it will be far better than CM8 which was a crash fest on my PC.

What Quake1 graphical mod is that? The problem with Tenebrae (sp?) and the other mods was that they hit the frame rate too hard for my 8600GT at 1680x1050, can't accept less than 60fps on Quake1 for pete's sake.
