Hmm how come the postvilles are cheaper than the g1s? Thought I could get another x25-m for under 200 by now.

TRIM firmware has been released, grab yours here. HotHardware tested it and found out nice performance improvements, up to 30% faster in write performance and slightly faster on reads

30% write speeds is impressive. Don't think I can hold out any longer.

The firmware update is an ISO image that must be burnt on a CD or put in a bootable flash drive. However the included FREEDos won't work on my rig, no idea why, so I haven't been able to flash my drive yet. When I get back home I will put my SSD in another machine where I have successfully booted the ISO image, so I will be able to flash it.

Intel has also released the SSD ToolBox and Optimizer with several utilities to check the drive and manually force TRIM in XP and Vista.

About the write performance enhancements, it won't benefit the 80 Gb version, Intel says they have fewer flash chips than the 160GB drives, and thus less parallelism to exploit.

And of course this firmware update is for G2 34nm drives only

Remember to set your sata interface to IDE in the bios otherwise it won't work.

Erm... I think I will wait a few days before trying to upgrade firmware. I have found this thread about bricked X-25s after upgrading firmware

I hope you haven't updated your firmware yet. I'd hate to see you loose both drives.

Just wanted to let you know that Intel has removed the download link, they have screwed up big time here. More info here.

Yes, we have been contacted by users with issues with the firmware upgrade for our 34nm SSDs and we are investigating. We take all sightings and issues seriously and are working toward resolution. We have temporarily taken down the firmware link while we investigate.
