how to shutdown a gtx280 in linux ?
my computer have a nvidia geforce 8400 for my linux desktop, and a nvidia geforce gtx280 for playing windows videogames in windows vista
both video cards are connectet via dvi to my desktop tft and to my lcdtv i am playing only 3..4 hours every 3rd day, the most time i am at linux and use the 8400 than i do not need the gtx280, how can i shutdown the gtx280 ? |

You can't turn off a video card once you turn your computer on.

i will power off the gtx280, and power back on wen i am in windows and need the gtx280 |

the gtx280 does not have a power safe mode ? than it is time that nvidia make a power safe mode !

powersave means using less power, not no power.
You CAN power down some cards. lspci can tell you if a card can be powered down. How? Ask google. But even powered down it needs some energy. What you need is a second box. |

If the card is not in 3D mode, it will be in "power saving" mode, i.e. downclocked. |

it is possible, but you need the right configuration. not sure if linux has support for it yet
