From the readme....

- All new features of Enhanced Edition are compatible with saved games from previous versions (in some cases, new features will appear when a new location is loaded)

- Saved games from version 1.3 and previous versions may generate unexpected results in certain quests if loaded in Enhanced Edition. Players are advised to start game from the beginning

so they aren't officially supported, i could have sworn i read on the web-site they were. probably just a PYA (protect your ass) clause in the readme. i've loaded saves from chapter 1 and 2 without issues.

old save games might work, but you never know what might happen 3-5 hours into gameplay. because of old save games some quest might be broken.

better not to use them

Yeah I heard that using old save games mightn't show the enhancements in the scripting etc.

Holy crap... DO NOT delete your old save files manually in windows! I'm an "F5" masher and when I realized the game made new save files for every quick save I went into windows and deleted a bunch of old files manually. Surprisingly it actually screwed up my current saves.

The game seems to be fine now that I've restored them, but it had a lot of subtle "background" effects on the game, such as putting new exclamation points next to all of my old quests (as if they were recently updated) and it even acted like i hadn't read several books. I noticed when I saw some green mold that I had collected earlier, it had no name on it so I couldn't collect it. I saved my game near the mold, restored all my old saves from the recycle bin and then reloaded my latest game and now I can harvest the mold normally.

Very strange stuff and a very poor save system IMO. Why on earth would they make the game refer to past save files?

If I hadn't noticed this sooner it would have completely broken my game. I just hope that nothing else has been screwed up. So far the game has been almost flawless so I was really surprised when this happened.

I'm going to have several gigs of saves by the time I'm done and its going to take like a minute to load the "load game" menu.

I wonder if they fixed the level load times by playing with the save system?

I don't know. It sounds like old saves are compatible with the new patch, so they couldn't have changed much.

This is very odd though. I tried removing the saves again and it had the same effect, so its definitely a repeatable thing.

I'm really REALLY hoping that nothing else was screwed up and that no information was doubled up since I played for about 4 hours after deleting the saves and then restoring them.

And it kinda sucks that the load screen is slowed down so much with all those saves in there. I'm not even though chapter 2 yet.

Been having problems getting this game to run smoothly, Installed rivatuner and noticed the game is only using 30-60% of my GPU's potential... this can't be right surely?

Running a 4850 with latest drivers

I think there are issues with ATIs 4800 series of cards. best thing is to keep trying drivers until you find one that works.

I seem to have tried everything now to be honest, I really don't know what to do. Used 5 diff drivers and 2 DNA sets but no luck, even disabled all overclocks, mem timing etc and reinstalled SP3 and drivers, defragged and messed around with every option in the catalyst control centre. Updated Direct X, removed antivirus etc etc etc

I really need a fix for this, I go back to work soon and really wanted some time to play this before the 60 hour weeks start again

All settings set to highest, 2*AA

Only way I can get rid of glitches is to change the view distance to medium and then it runs like a charm but really ruins the atmosphere.

The Demo and original ran absoloutely fine with all settings set to high with 4*AA and 16*AF

Memory wise it uses between 800MB and just over 1.2GB, which leaves me some left over.

I know its the enhanced version but the changes do not warrant the performance degredation at all.

Help!
