Well, I can't install it.

I've tried a bunch of different things, but the patcher keeps insisting that my game is not registered. The option to register is greyed out in the launch menu, I have an e-mail explicitly stating the game is registered and even shows me my CD key...but nothing. Every time I run the patcher it claims the game is unregistered. Oh well. Back to WoW for me!

Installed the patch and it's nice they removed the CD check. It asks for your user login and password that you registered at their website. I am probably going to end up buying the import EE version from gogamer just to support the company. I am extremely pleased with how they did this patch that I think they deserve the extra sale .

I couldn't disagree more. A patcher that cannot even acknowledge the game is registered is not worth anything in my opinion. After a 1.6GB download I have all the content sitting on my hard drive, unable to do anything with it. The patcher does not ask for a username or password, it simply says it will check online to see if your game is registered then immediately spits out an error dialog saying "Please register your copy of the Witcher etc", then shuts down.

I have had nothing but technical problems with this game from the start. I originally abandoned it when I lost over an hour of progress to a random loading screen crash and every subsequent attempt to play the game awarded me no better fortune. Crashes, NPC pathing glitches, and the poor translation originally turned me off but I did appreciate the underlying game design. I've been eagerly waiting for this patch for months now and to find that I can't even install it at this point is the last straw for me. Just another game box collecting dust on my shelf.

wow you give up easy, at least try reinstalling it and registering correctly.

since you are the only one complaining right now, it is not a widespread issue. i finished the game twice, and will do it again, maybe twice again.

i never had a single crash or a single problem with the game

1. register at http://www.thewitcher.com/
2. run manually register.exe in game folder
3. login and enter your CD key

Worked for me.

As is common with computer games, some users will experience no problems while others will. I know for a fact the crashing on loading bug was fairly widespread, at least prior to this patch.

"Reinstalling and registering correctly"? I'm not sure what you mean. I simply installed the game normally and followed the "Register Game" link from the game launcher. I got set up on their web site and even got the confirmation e-mail. Yet the patcher insists I have not registered the game. I did in fact uninstall the game, restart my computer, reinstall it, and re-register...and I keep getting the same result. Had I not already spent an hour trying to resolve the issue, I would probably be more forgiving.
