I had a lot of technical and scripting problems with the game too, which is why I gave up and waited for this patch to play through it.

"Reinstalling and registering correctly"? I'm not sure what you mean. I simply installed the game normally and followed the "Register Game" link from the game launcher. I got set up on their web site and even got the confirmation e-mail. Yet the patcher insists I have not registered the game. I did in fact uninstall the game, restart my computer, reinstall it, and re-register...and I keep getting the same result. Had I not already spent an hour trying to resolve the issue, I would probably be more forgiving.

So it didn't pop up a login window for you? That sounds like there is something else weird going on on your system cause the patch has to get your login username and password to check if you registered the game. Have you tried running the patch as administrator?

BTW the username and password are the same one as you used when you registered with the witcher forum IIRC.

Well I mentioned it on the Witcher forums and sure enough someone else had the same problem as me. Apparently the game will not register in the Windows registry unless you run the registration program from the administrator account itself. Sure enough when I logged over to the admin account, the "Register" option on the launcher was available. I ran it one more time and the patch is installing now. And no the login window didn't pop up until I registered the game while logged on the admin account.

A simple "you must register on the computer's administrator account" in the installation instructions would have saved me a lot of hassle. But I'm just happy I finally got it installed. Thank you for your help Lurker, if I hadn't read it on the Witcher forums already your post here probably would have done it. I just assumed that the registration check was online only and that having registered it from my normal user account was enough.

Now if the game doesn't crash at the loading screen when I go to collect the Frightener Eye during the intro chapter, I will be very happy!
