That's the big thing for me.

I want that part of the game.

That's how it should be. I have no problem with that.

Well, for me it works because I don't MP... It can be a problem with online games though... It's easy for them to control it if they wish. Allow unlimited activations for a game but only allow one key to run in MP at any given time. This ensures that you won't give your game/key to your friends...

Hm?

He was asking if Spore would download creatures from the internet if you use a crack. The unlimited number of user created creatures is one of the big features of the game.

I know what he was asking... I was giving a general answer, as I don't know about Spore. But, given that Spore needs a valid cdkey for online and you will have one, it should work...

Putting heavy DRM in only makes the pirates target the game more.

Does anyone know if Crysis Warhead will have this? It's technically an EA title.

Doesn't matter at all, these are more than enough times allowed to install a game. I'm fairly sure EA will come up with a revoke all licences tool some day.

Heh, not really... If I play a game I generally install it on at least 2 pcs, if not 3. So right away all of my activations would be used up. This is the main reason why I've never bought digital distribution games because I know they would become a pain to install.

The only method that I've seen which is both effective an less intrusive is when you don't need a cd-key at all to install the game. You only need the key to tie into your online account. Then you don't have to worry about how many times you install it, you only can have 1 account per key, and if you want to sell the game you should be able to deactivate your account to let some one else use that key. At the very least you can always give them the account the key is tied to.

Other than the part about selling your games, that is how Steam works. I installed Steam on my brother's PC a while back to show him Half-Life 2. I just had to log in to my account and download the game.
