It's easy enough to do yourself, either using this forum;s own word filtering tools (assuming tis software can do it), or by using Proximitron (possible sp) to filter out the <img> html for the smiley.

I didn't mean to remove the smily completely, I'm sorry if you got this wrong. But I would very much appreciate it if you could just remove the smily from the list of smilies that can be seen on the right side while writing an article.
