I'm planning to upgrade my 8800GTX soon as it's starting to feel tired gaming at 1920X1200. Would the 260 be enough at that res with at least 4x AA 16 AF and also what brand would you rec. I'll have to update my sig as I've got the E8600 running at 4Ghz. Thanks

Bioshock, Oblivion, UT3, ect will all do pretty well with that card. Its impossible to say how long it'll last. I know Crysis @ Very High with 4xAA is way out of reach of those settings. From the Nvidia perspective I tend to look at the 260 as the super card for 1680x1050. And the midrange card for 1920x1200 +. SLI them and things change dramatically.
But like I said. Your results will vary from game to game. For 90% of everything out there. A single GTX 260 is more than adequate for that resolution with your desired settings. Other games you may have to make some compromises. If your less into compromises a GTX 280 might be better suited for you. This opinion is formed from owning 3 GTX 260 cards, and 2 GTX 280 cards currently. Chris

But if you are not in hurry to change your card i suggest you wait for newer solutions that will come out until the end of the year... Nvidia is planning to release a GT206 (55nm) somewhere in November or December 2008 and GT212 (45nm) at Q1 2009 I wouldn't waste all my money for something that will be replaced soon...

This one might be worth it but he would still be better off selling his 8800GTX while its still worth something and move on over to a GTX 260 to hold him off until next year. |

But it will at least (hopefully) drive down the 260/280's price.

GT206 is not the same GTX 260 with 216 shaders card you suggested is coming in 2-3 weeks.
The GT206 is a 55nm shrink coming later and who knows what NV will name it

I'm very happy with it since my gaming res is @ 1680x1050 ! I haven't tried it at higher resolutions so I guess I'll wait for Jojomomo's feedback.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Really helps in making these decisions. The problem here is "when" to sell this before it's worth even less. As Jojomomo already pointed out but I guess another month or so wouldn't hurt. At the moment it looks like the only option I have is the GTX280 to be comfortable at that res with future games. If I were to go that route would I have to upgrade my PSU as well as it only comes with 2 PCI X 6 pin cables. I"m still leaning towards the 260 based on price though I'm just unsure if it would make enough of a difference.
