First, a fair amount of "rumors" ARE squashed by tech manufacturers on a fairly regular basis.

Second, no one's really answered any of my questions. So let's see: It was approx. 111 days between the orginal nForce's preview and it's review. nForce 2 was previewed July 16, so it's been 43 days already. Sept. 1 is 5 days away, so if they review (i.e. still not available to the public) on Sept. 1 it will have been 48 days. If they review Sept. 30 it will have been 77 days. I guess that's still better than 111 days, eh?

Here's a new question: What's nVidia's track record for time between Review and "To Market"? 3 weeks? What's the industry average? I honestly have little more than a guess on these...

there was never any indication that nforce2 should have been out by now. wait for reviews to start showing up, as there have been zero done. once that happens, then ask the question.

So to summarize...the best we can currently do is "It most likely will be *out* (whatever that means) in September." Wow...that's great

I'm saddened.

Any takers on my other question(s)?

A-HA! Here's some REAL info... (ok, it's still clear as mud...but it's INFO)

http://www.msicomputer.com/msiforms/k7n2.asp

Bit more promising! I'm hoping for reviews by Sept. 15, boards by Oct. 7.

The 2400+ and 2600+ was nothing more then a Paper laucnh as well, so to don't get in too much of a rush. There will probably be Nforce 2 boards out by the time you can get a 2400+ Or very soon after. As this chip itself won't be availible till like late sept or october.

Regards,
Mike

exept that there have been actual reviews in the case of the 2400 and 2600+, meaning they should be out a lot sooner than a product which hasn't even been given to reviewers/no reviews are available.

I must have inadvertently used my thread closing powers. It allows me to close a thread just by posting something.

zoolap: The "official" post seemed to have been crapped all over with non-nForce2 stuff and no one had posted to it for 6 days. It doesn't bode well on getting a valid/wanted response back to post to a thread like that.

Pricewatch showing the 2400+/2600+ for sale ETA 10/1. 5 weeks from review to on shelves definitely constitutes a paper launch, I'll have to agree. I'm thinking of starting to track the chronology of tech products in a database. It would be interesting and could prove to reward those companies who don't abuse product road maps/paper launches/vaporware by laying the information out where everyone can see it.

I've already stated my irritation at the fact that we're not hearing much and the fact that I don't want it to be like nforce 1 where we had to wait ages for anything to appear. I think MSI was the first and then it took ages for anything else to appear.

I would like to see what nforce 2 is like to determine whether to still go the amd route - it certainly has many good features. I'm not that keen on via from what I've heard, but that's probably a topic for another thread.

I just can't understand why ask where it is when its not even supposed to be out yet.
And it's not like you can fully 'preview' a motherboard. If it's not ready, then it's not ready.
