We'll just transfer all my previous complaining to the present so I don't have to do it again

I'm VERY impressed with the "reference" design. I think it's only common sense that NVIDIA would do better with their second chipset (er, what am I supposed to call it?) then their first offering just on the premise that they'll have more experience as a chipset manufacturer. I have built systems with the original NFORCE and I did like it very much but in the world of business it's the mainstream perspective that counts. The first gen nForce was NOT different ENOUGH from the competition to make it a stand out. I think this one definitely has that potential.

Now for the painful wait. I have a lot easier time waiting for something when I know more about it, don't you?

My money is stretched thin probably beyond 2002, so I'm not waiting for much...unfortunately

can you provide benchmarks of an nforce platform with new drivers vs old drivers?

all i know is that once nforce came out, it was outperformed by KT266A and it costed more to boot. and apparently no sites ever use nforce as the benchmarking platform, but use KT266A/KT333 etc

according to nvidia's press release made on the 1st of this month
Quote:
The NVIDIA nForce2 platform processors are currently in the labs of NVIDIA’s extensive list of motherboard and system builder partners, including: Abit, ABS, Alienware, Aopen, ASUSTeK, Atlas Micro, Chaintech, Epox, Falcon Northwest, HyperSonic, Leadtek, MSI, Shuttle Computer, Soltech, Totally Awesome, and Vicious PC. Retail products based on the nForce2 platform processors are expected to become available later this month.
i'm wondering how well they will perform with 266FSB CPUs, as it looks like we might be stuck with them for a little while longer.

What the hell...149 euros for the non-integrated Leadtek Nforce2?

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/story.html?id=1035648657

Thats like 220 Canadian(145 US)...If they are going to be selling at that price for real, nVidia can keep it...not only are they late selling it...but its bloody expensive too...and Leadtek isn't much of a motherboard maker either...
