Default 177.70 & 177.76 GTX 8800 freeeze randomly all 10 minutes !

all is in the title it's impossible to continue like this !!

i've tested too without any application, an empty desktop, waiting the freeze , and it steel comes (whith or without the ipp and glyphcache 's xorg change ) !

Is there anybody that have the same problem and/or have found a workaround , because i've the choice between a stable but useless desktop (20 sec waiting the console to resize !), or a normal desktop (during 8-10mn) then data loss, because of a damage hard reboot !

And gpu +15 as usual at next reboot.

at the opposite, i can play quake4, ut2004 without freeze during 1 hour ...

(kde 4.1.1, twinview 2880*900, 2go ram)

thanks for reply, and ... apologize for my english !

Hi,

I am just interested: If the system freezes, does the usb die, too? I mean: Does your mouse or keyboard leds turn off then?

Because I sometimes have these damn freezes on a 9800 GTX.

Kind regards
Christian

hi, immediatly after a discrete "flash" on all the screen, the (usb) mouse and the (ps2) keyboard are fonctionnal during 1 or two second, and if i hit ctrl alt backspace , i can logout. If i wait more than that, the mouse moves, but slowly, i can partially drag some windows, but poor refresh of the screen and i heard the hdd more working. If i click on the desktop during the 2 first seconds i can't no more logout with ctrl alt backspace.
The freeze comes quicker, if i'm using kaffeine tv (dvb usb stick), but after a random period too.
Seeking any video - launching virtualbox xp - and the freeze comes quicker.

Oh yes, this is why I started to use XGL, this happened with all driver in the last at least 3 months. Now I trashed XGL, becasue it renders differently and ugly, and my work depends on the quality of the rendering, so I got these freezes back.
